What is Open & Affirming?

Open and Affirming (ONA) is the United Church of Christ’s (UCC) designation for congregations, campus ministries, and other bodies in the UCC which make a public covenant of welcome into their full life and ministry to persons of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

Why did we become ONA?

We have been welcoming to everyone for a long time.
However over time, we realized that we knew who we were, but that we didn’t have a public way of sharing that with our community. Becoming Open and Affirming is a way to formalize what we have long known to be true:

No matter who you are or where you are on Life's Journey you are welcome here.
