History of The Good News Thrift Store
The Good News Thrift Store built as a mission to the community as well as to raise money for the church in 1990, has since become an integral part of the communities of Plymouth, Terryville and Thomaston. It is part of the church’s effort to provide a service to the community as well as income to the church.
The store, which is run exclusively by volunteers, provides not only quality clothing, but jewelry, shoes, handbags, house ware items, books, toys, etc., to its customers, many of whom return weekly to check out new merchandise.
In addition, the staff works closely with local Social Services to provide clothing to school children in need and people who have fallen onto hard times and/or tragedies, such as a house fire, economic difficulties, job loss, etc.
